Hello guys and welcome back for another round of movie reviews with Movie Nerd, a place where you can be nerdy about movies.

So this is more of a spontaneous review because I just found out about this movie, I did not know it existed until this evening, I haven't seen any trailers for it and, apparently it is a Netflix movie or, actually, a movie that you can find and watch on Netflix. I just saw it and I want it to write a review for it, without edit or rewrites or any of that stuff. This is just a blind and raw review, which I do not normally do.

But enough about that let's start. Actually, before I start diving into this, I want to bring you guys a bit of a synopsis for this movie, just to know what it is about:

  • Desperate to save their marriage, a young couple takes a deal and moves into their dream home, but disturbing events reveal the house's troubled history.

So, after reading that synopsis for this movie, it sounds like you're basic plot story for a haunted house. Actually, it's not really that, not exactly. Don't expect to see anything supernatural in this movie because there isn't. The movie makes it feel like the house is haunted and in a clever way to be honest, giving the movie less of a ghostly feel but more like a mystery one, which, in my opinion, that is the best part of this movie. Those little moments of mystery that makes you curious about what is really happening.

Besides those little moments, the movie dives into all the horror movie cliches that make it predictable and not very original. Because it's predictable you know every little thing that will happen next and that steels from the impact that those moments need to inflict, except for one little scene, which I thought it was fairly good.

The third act is when the movie really disappointed me because of the reveal about the things that were happening in the house. It's like a 'meh reaction of a reveal that does not pay off, not in the slightest. Also, the length of the movie is pretty long, almost 2 hours for this no way, it should have been an hour and a half tops.

Overall, not a good movie, liked the whole mystery feel of it but besides that, nothing else. It felt very cheap, cheaper that a students movie. 4.5/10

OK guys, that was my review for this one, raw and spontaneous. Maybe I should do more of these in the future, it was like a breath of fresh air. The next few days I will work on the reviews for movies that had already been released mixed with reviews for new releases, like the new The Suicide Squad. Until then, take care, stay movie nerdy and keep on reviewing!
