Hello guys and welcome back for another round of movie reviews with Movie Nerd, a place where you can be nerdy about movies!

This is the big one guys, the movie that I have been waiting the entire year to see, a movie that I was excited since the tittle reveal from last year. I watched it last night and I could not stop talking about it with my friends and discuss about what just transpired in front of our very eyes. I went through a range of emotions with this movie, from excitement and happiness to anger and sadness. It's a crossover event that I have been dreaming of seeing on the big screen, in live action.

I put the spoiler alert in the title because I am going to get into some spoilers, some very big ones, from cameo surprises to post credit scenes so, if you haven't already seen the movie, what are you still doing here, go watch it right now and then come back and read this, if you have nothing else to do:)). Before I begin, a little synopsis for you guys:

  • In the film, Parker asks Dr. Stephen Strange (Cumberbatch) to make his identity as Spider-Man a secret again with magic following its public revelation in Far From Home, but this breaks open the multiverse, allowing five supervillains from alternate realities who have fought their own versions of Parker to enter his universe.

So, last warning, if you haven't seen the movie, BIG SPOILERS AHEAD!

With that out of the way, what can I say about this movie man. For me, personally, I can say that it really stuck the landing because it did what I was expected and really wanted to do, it brought back past villains from the other Spider Man movies, it has great action sequences, it's big on action this one and the scenes are done very well, well shot, well framed, well lit, all of it was dove very good. It's grandeur in scale, much more than any other Spider Man movies that came before, even the other two with Tom Holland. It's still has the humor and, most importantly, it did not loose it's heart also, with all the action and the special effects, that are dazzling by the way. The movie really pulls on your heart strings, especially in the third act of the movie, it gets really emotional and you can really see the acting chops from Tom and from the others as well.

The movie really feels bigger and bolder, taking the Marvel Universe or, actually, the Marvel Multiverse, into new directions and it enlarges the franchise's scope and the stakes feels so much higher here than ever before.

What I really enjoyed in this movie, alongside everything else, were the surprise appearances from Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock, Daredevil from the Netflix series and I really gasped when I saw him at the beginning of the movie, giving Peter advice. I was also a bit annoyed after on Feige, who said in an interview that we will see Charlie Cox as Daredevil in the MCU but not sure when. This happened after we got the confirmation that Vincent D'onofrio is back as Kingpin in Hawkeye so that is a clear confirmation that the multiverse is happening on all fronts and it's really expanding.

And, of course, mentioning cameos, the most obvious ones that I really was very excited to see were Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire as they're respective Spider Men/ Peter Parker's. The moment they appeared on screen, alongside Ned and M.J, a few people in the audience clapped, me included and a lot of emotions were felt in that moment, seeing those two back in their suits, especially Tobey was something that I really thought would never happen again. The child inside me did a couple of flips when they appeared so it was a very special moment for me. Plus, the interactions between the three of them is this movie's delight, cracking jokes, sharing life stories from they're lives, how each of them lost someone important in their life, after Tom Holland's Peter aunt May died, being killed by the Goblin and the other two try to consult him and sharing those important deaths from they're lives really was an emotional scene. Also, I was expecting the death of aunt May because this version of Peter needed an Uncle Ben moment, not counting the death of Tony Stark because that one was in an Avengers movie and not in a Spider Man movie and this was that moment.

Plus, the battle at the end of the movie, with all three Spider Men teaming up is amazing, like this whole movie is and there is a moment in that battle where the three of them are swinging and the shot capturing the three of them swinging together and then landing on the Statue of Liberty is one of the coolest shot's ever. Also, the other two Spider Men have some very emotional talks with their specific villains, Tobey talks a bit with Otto, Flint and saves Goblin from being killed by Tom Holland's Spider Man and Garfield also has a little talk with Max and Connors as well.

The movie does a really good job on evoking those past moments from the other Spider Man movies, past lines that are again said, some of them from other characters, with slightly different variations but they don't feel cheap and still packs the same emotional punch like they did before. Also, the other theme songs from the other Spider Man movies are also heard, heroes and villains alike. The Electro theme is heard briefly when he first appears, Danny Elfman's theme is heard when Spider Man Tobey talks with Otto and The Amazing Spider Man 2 theme is heard when Garfield is talking with Max. That was a very good use of sound effects and the Tom Holland Spider Man theme, which I did not find it very powerful, in this one it really got some steroids and it feels more powerful, as it's main hero.

Tom Hardy appears, not as Venom, in the first post credit scene, which was a nice moment but, after he went back to his universe, he left a little Venom stain on the bar and I am very curious where do we go from that. For the second one, I was very surprised that we got a teaser trailer for Doctor Strange: In The Multiverse of Madness which comes out in May of next year and the movie looks very scary and creepy and I cannot wait to see it. Plus, we get some sort of Dark Strange and I am not sure that he is Strange Supreme from the What If...?series but we shall see.

Overall, this movie is my favourite Spider Man movie from this trilogy and, possibly, my favourite Spider Man movie period but I am still considering that. The movie is 2 and a half hours but you don't really feel that because the movie has a really fast pace, not so many slow moments and a very even pace which makes the time fly by very fast. I did not find anything wrong with this movie, it was amazing, emotional, funny, full of action and fan service galore. It's definitely a bit more darker than the other two but it still has the goofiness of a Disney movie. One thing that I can say is that we already got a version of this with Spider Man: Into the Spider Verse but I can say that it did not bothered me because that one was still animated and this is live action and it gives you a different feeling. Either way, I really enjoyed this movie because it can satisfy everybody, from nostalgic people and people who really liked the Marc Webb movies to those who only know of the Tom Holland version of the character. A movie that really captures the essence of a hero and the sacrifices that he makes and the loses that he encounters. An amazing movies from start to finish! 9.5/10

OK guys, that was my spoiler review for this movie. For the next one, right before Christmas, I am going back into the Matrix. Until then, take care, stay movie nerdy and keep on reviewing!
