Hello guys and welcome back for another round of movie reviews with Movie Nerd, the place where you can be nerdy about movies!

So, for me, this is a bit of an unusual review because it's a Netflix movie and, normally, I don't review movies that come out on Netflix but, being a movie in a popular series like this one, I thought I should broaden my horizons and do a review but, I do feel the need to add that this will not be a normal occurrence, this is just an exception.

Before I dive into the review, a little synopsis for you guys:

So, as you can see from that brief synopsis, this movie is a direct sequel to the 1974 original movie, in other words, doing the exact same thing that Halloween did with that series, starting it again with the 2018 movie, which was also a direct sequel to the original one, erasing all the movies that came after and before so no points for originality because of that.

The movie is not the worst in this franchise but it's definitely the scarless because, however much of a threat Leatherface USED TO BE, he is not that threatening in this one. And not very scary as well. It does have some creepy moments with some chilling and frightening atmosphere but not enough to keep you invested or even interested in the movie.

I said before that this movie does not win any points for originality because it uses the recipe to bring back older actors and legacy characters that were in a previous or the original movie alongside younger actors and newer characters, a recipe that is all the hype now in Hollywood apparently, being used first by the 2018 Halloween movie, followed up by Terminator: Dark Fate and this year's Scream and, also, Jurassic World: Dominium.

Luckily, the movie is short, the perfect length for a movie like this, a slasher that really lives up to the name of a slasher, at least because the movie is full of gore and very bloody and gruesome violence and imagery, which is what you expect to see in a slasher movie, especially a movie from this franchise. At least, in that department, the movie did not disappoint.

Overall, a bit of a let down for me, being a fan of the franchise. Plus the movie is very dumb and all of it's logic has flown out the window because there are some poorly made decisions from the characters, making the movie hilariously dumb and without any logic.

OK guys, that was my review for this one. I'm not sure if I will post something new till the end of the month because a bit of my vacation is coming next week and I really just need to relax and blow of some steam so I can focus more on the reviews to come. Also, I am trying to expand the site, to post something more than movie reviews but the project is, for now, in it's inception phase. What I can say is that I will start March strong with the review for the most anticipated The Batman movie. On my way home, I will make a turn into Gotham for a brief moment :)) 6/10

Until then, take care, stay safe, stay movie nerdy and keep on reviewing!
