Hello guys and welcome back for another round of movie reviews with Movie Nerd, a place where you can be nerdy about movies!

So, it has been almost 1 month since my last review but I have been very busy with work and other things but now I am back and, although this movie came out 2 weeks ago and other movie critics, bloggers and vloggers have already posted their reviews, today, finally, I will post mine.

Before I do that, a bit of a synopsis for this movie: Harley Quinn, Huntress and Black Canary battle crime kingpin Black Mask in Gotham City. That was a really brief summary but oh well, onto the review!

So, after I saw Suicide Squad I was a bit disappointed by the final product and when I heard about this sort of sequel but not really I was not one bit thrilled, interested and curious but not thrilled. But after I saw the trailers and judging by the fact that the one good thing about the Suicide Squad movie was Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn my expectations were a bit higher and the interest in this movie as well.

Now, after I saw it I can safely that this is way better than the Suicide Squad movie. It's more colorful, it's more wacky and funny, with lots of humor and funny situations that reminded me of the Deadpool movies and that's why I wrote in the title what I wrote. I mean, the whole movie kinda is a mix between the first and second Deadpool movies, with the 4th wall breaking jokes, the violence, a sheer amount of violence, the part of the story with Cassandra that Harley tries to protect and assembles the Birds of Prey in question, not being named that in the beginning but towards the end.

Also, a plus for this movie is the fresh perspective that the movie comes with, a band of women coming together to stop an evil bastard, finding some connections and a particular bond of friendship along the way. We get to meet a bunch of new characters that we have never seen on the big screen, some being a presence or have been a presence on the small screen, like the CW show Arrow with the Black Canary and the Birds of Prey TV show from some time ago that had Huntress.

The movie contains some very fast paced and great action sequences, with a fighting choreography that can rival the one in the John Wick movies and, oddly enough, the ones that worked at those movies worked and trained the actors in this one as well. The scenes are very impressive, very well thought out and constructed. It's visually stunning, colorful and with some urban designs that complete the whole image of the one and only Harley Quinn.

Overall, I really enjoyed it, it was very entertaining and funny, with some excellent action and great set designs. Also, it is not really a sequel to the Suicide Squad movie but it does contain some subtle and not so subtle nods to that particular ''masterpiece''. 7.5/10

OK guys, that is my review for this one. Next up, we are going for a run alongside a speedster. Not Flash or Quicksilver but a blue hedgehog named Sonic. Until then, take care, stay movie nerdy and keep on reviewing!
