Hello guys and welcome back for another round of movie reviews, quarantine edition, with Movie Nerd, a place where you can be nerdy about movies, even in a pandemic:))) So, because we are forced to stay home because of this outbreak, this is day I don't really know anymore for me, because I kinda lost count and the movies are canceled and movie theaters are all closing, I will still provide content by watching movies at home and give you my take on them.
So, the movie that I am reviewing today was supposed to come out last year but it came out in March, on Friday the 13th nonetheless but I am guessing nobody saw it because of the pandemic but, luckily, it was released very early online and I got to see it.
Before I begin the review, here's a little synopsis for you guys: the film serves as a satire on the profound political divide between the American left and right.
So, basically this movie was aiming to be a political satire on the divide between the left and right oppositions in America but it kinda missed the mark on that front going more for the entertainment and violence of a hunt that begins so suddenly. Most of the participants die in the first few minutes of the movie, we don't get any character development on any of the characters, including the ones that survive and make it to the end so their deaths and journey kinda felt pointless and without any impact on the viewer. I for one was not affected plus the main protagonist has no character arc whatsoever.
What I can say good about it is that it's plenty of dark humor to be at least as satirical it can be, it does have some cool killings and an awesome fight scene at the end plus a little reveal on whom the villain of this picture is which was a nice reveal, a nice touch.
Overall, I kinda liked it, a bit but it was nothing I have never seen before in other type of survivor movies without the little twist from the end and they went to make a political satire but it ended being an average thriller with a bit of dark humor. 6.2/10
OK guys, that was my review for this one. Next up, I am not really sure but maybe Onward because Disney+ just made it available online. Until then, take care, stay safe, stay clean and keep social distancing, stay movie nerdy and keep on reviewing!
