Hello guys and welcome back for another round of movie reviews, quarantine edition, with Movie Nerd, a place where you can be nerdy about movies, even in a pandemic:)))

So I know that it has been a while since my last review, which actually did not do that well but because new content is at a low point in these troubled times that we are living right now and movie teathers are already closing again, for a short period of time but still, even if they will reopen them there will not be any new movie to screen because in the past 2 weeks there has been cancelations galore of movie content. Of right now, only 4 movies remain to be screened in cinemas: Soul, from Pixar, The Croods: A New Age from DreamWorks, Wonder Woman 84 from WB and DC and Free Guy from 20th Century Studios. Plus, I am not really sure that even these four movies will be launched this year but time will tell I guess.

With that out of the way, I shall get back to my review of this kinda only Marvel movie of this year, which does not have to do with the MCU. Before I begin the review, a little synopsis for you guys: in the film, a group of young mutants held in a secret facility fight to save themselves.

Short and concise this movie's plot it is and, actually, I am glad that it is short and concise because if it wasn't this movie would have been much worse. I am not saying that the movie is bad , the movie is OK for what it is, a spin-off from the X-Men movies but, judging by the fact that this movie was delayed so many times, I expected a bit more to be honest. The movie has some frightening images and content, make no mistake but I wanted more out of the horror part of this movie.

The superhero part is covered of course but still, not enough in my opinion. There are some awesome special effects plus the final confrontation is something to look at, however short it may be it's got some punch to it nonetheless.

The story behind every each of the characters makes you a bit attached of them but, again, the screenwriters could have done a better job establishing these characters for the future, which may not come for this franchise after this one. It reminded me a bit of movies such as the classic One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest and last year's Glass. More similar with the latter movie rather than the further.

Overall, the movie was a bit disappointing to me but that is only my opinion. It has some good moments, it's got some potential ingredients that could make a good superhero movie and it does have some good parts but, more often than not, the movie's plot is less than it's parts. 6/10

OK guys, that was my review for this one. Not sure when or what I will review for next time or when I will post it. I guess I may try to review some movies that have releases on the online platforms but I will see. Until then, take care, stay safe, stay clean, stay movie nerdy and keep on reviewing!
