Hello guys and welcome back for another round of movie reviews, quarantine edition, with Movie Nerd, a place where you can be nerdy about movies, even in a pandemic:)))
Before I start this review I actually want to tell you some good news, if you haven't heard already, is that the movie theaters are reopening and as soon as I heard it I prepared myself to not jump sky high because I have waited for this news for 6 months and now it's finally here. So expect, in the following weeks and months, reviews for new movies coming out, the ones that are still coming out this year.
With that out of the way, let's get back to the review this sort of sequel to the acclaimed and very well crafted Train to Busan, one of the best zombie movies of all time. First, a bit of a synopsis: the movie follows a soldier who is sent along with his team to retrieve a truck full of money from the wastelands of the Korean peninsula now inhabited by zombies, rogue militia and a nice family.
Look, I really enjoyed the first movie, it brought something new in this genre, it was something different than other zombie flicks. Unfortunately, this second outing does the exact opposite and looks more like other zombie flicks, with the same cliches, the same structure, basically being a basic zombie movie, no different from the others.
The familiarity feels so obvious that it becomes disappointing to a fault, lowering the quality of the movie. But it's not all bad. Except this sense of unoriginality, the movie still has some great action sequences and zombie chasing scenes that can really give you enough of a thrill that you can really enjoy.
Overall, although the familiarity makes the movie predictable and not that surprising, it still has enough of a thrill that can satisfy the fans of the original. 6.5/10
OK guys, that is my review for this one. Up next, I should have two more reviews, one for Bill and Ted Face the Music and Mulan. Until then, take care, stay safe, stay clean, stay movie nerdy and keep on reviewing!
