Hello guys and welcome back for another round of movie reviews with Movie Nerd, a place where you can be nerdy about movies and that's OK!

So, last weekend we had Spider Man, taking a trip far from home, pun intended. This week we have Annabelle, every girl's ''favorite'' doll, coming back home. My thoughts about her return are as follows but, first, a bit of a synopsis for you: determined to keep Annabelle from wreaking more havoc, paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren lock the possessed doll in the artifacts room in their house. But when the doll awakens the room's evil spirits, it soon becomes an unholy night of terror for the couple's 10-year-old daughter, her friends and their young baby sitter.

If you take these three Annabelle movies in a chronological order and not by the years in which they were released, it will be Annabelle: Creation, Annabelle and this one. As you might know already, I am not a big fan on the first Annabelle movie, did a review for that as well but I very much enjoyed the second one. As for the third, it may well be my second favorite in this Conjuverse, the first one being, of course, The Conjuring.

Maybe some of you may say that the second Conjuring movie is better than the third Annabelle but I would say that both movies are, nearly, at the same level, with Annabelle just a little nudge in front.

As you may deduce from the words I am spilling here, I very much enjoyed this movie, I really had a blast watching it, enjoying it and having a really good time appreciating it.

The movie is very well constructed, it has a very linear and basic story, somewhat familiar but it compensates with the very eerie, frightening and very effective atmosphere that really immerses you in the movie, giving a real sense of dread and keeping you at the edge almost all of the time. From the moment when the main protagonists are left alone in the house and trouble begins, you have the sense that something is about to happen at any moment.

Some of the jump scares you can see them coming and the movie can get a bit predictable at times but, in some moments, not a lot but just enough, the movie can surprise you with a very good jump scare that does not feel cheep, cliched and over the top but just the opposite, well thought, scary and effective.

Speaking of our three main girls, the performance are great, especially the friend of the babysitter, which, by the way, cracks the top 10 or even the top 5 or even, even the top 3 of the worst and stupid character in a horror movie. I don't care that she has a reason and a sad story behind her very poorly made decision, you don't do a stupid thing like that. Getting past that, like I said, all three actresses give very good performances.

Also, everyone who has seen the trailers for this movie, they know that the Warren's are in this as well but don't expect to see them all that much. I would have preferred the Warren's to have a bit more important part in this and to be more involved but I understand that this is not they're story and they are not the main characters.

Overall, I enjoyed this movie, I enjoyed that it kept really on the edge of my seat, most of the time, it did not have that many cliches, the scares were effective, the atmosphere was great, it's funny in some parts, with some very good humor and the fans will eat it up because it's fun and scary. Also, it's keeping this Conjuverse alive so, points for that. Also also, it gave me a Sixth Sense vibe in the beginning, with the daughter seeing dead people, like Joel Osment did in that movie so point for that as well. 7.2/10

OK guys, that is my review for this one. Next week, I am going to try to re-start my Marvel Cinematic Universe phase of reviews with Iron Man 3. Plus new movies are coming, so keep an eye on that as well. Until then, take care, stay movie nerdy and keep on reviewing!
