Hello guys and welcome back for, a second time today, another round of movie reviews with Movie Nerd, a place where you can be nerdy about movies!

Like I said, 2 missed reviews today and this one is the second one, the 9th movie in the most fast and the most furious and ridiculous franchise that exists today. Before I start, a bit of a synopsis for you guys, although the movie came out in June:

  • Vin Diesel’s Dom Toretto is leading a quiet life off the grid with Letty and his son, little Brian, but they know that danger always lurks just over their peaceful horizon. This time, that threat will force Dom to confront the sins of his past if he’s going to save those he loves most. His crew joins together to stop a world-shattering plot led by the most skilled assassin and high-performance driver they’ve ever encountered: a man who also happens to be Dom’s forsaken brother, Jakob.

Why do I say ridiculous? Well, because this latest entry is the most ridiculous and the most ludicrous, pun intended, in the entire series so far. Since the 5th movie, this series shift it's gear into another level, getting more ridiculous and ridiculous with each movie, trying to over surpassed itself and this one really did that. From the 5th one till the 8th one, I can say, it seemed to go in a certain direction but, with this one, it feels like an entire movie all together, it feels like it belongs in a new series or a new saga, as the title says.

This new entry, feels very cartoonish and I say that because this movie is very bonkers and crazy with it's choices to defy any sense of logic and any law of physics. It goes beyond ridiculous at this point from it's action sequences that defy any logic whatsoever to it's crazy ideas about what a car can really do in this world. The logic has left the building with this one.

Just so you know, I am not complaining because I really enjoyed this one as much as the others because the only thing I want from these movies is to be entertained and I got that a lot more that I bargained for. Who needs logic in these movies when Justin Lin delivers ridiculous set pieces that keeps the action going and going on an insane level until the end. Also, the movie knows how ridiculous this franchise has become and it self acknowledges that and I think is the only self aware entry in this franchise and although it's welcoming feels a bit to late.

Another point I wanted to touch is the story, which feels very unbelievable and very illogical than ever. A brother that appears from nowhere made no sense whatsoever, seeing that he was not mention even once in the other movies but, like I said, who needs that when you got over the top action to enjoy.

Overall, the series does what it does best still and that is to bring you insane entertainment, ridiculous dialogue and illogical stories for us to enjoy and turn our brains off for a couple of hours and that is all I need from these movies. 7.1/10

OK guys, that was my second review for today. The next one will be another missed one, I think, which will be the last one like I said and it's going to be Escape Room: Tournament of Champions.

Until then, take care, stay movie nerdy and keep on reviewing!
