Hello guys and welcome back for another round of movie reviews with Movie Nerd, a place where you can be nerdy about movies!

So, it feels a bit weird to do a review during the day because I usually do these reviews at night, when it's more peaceful and quiet and I can think but, seeing that I had some free time to kill plus I can check off another missed one from the list, I said to myself why not, let's do this! Winning and positive attitude right there :)).

My review today for the missed ones category is for the third Conjuring movie that came out in June, I think, which I saw at the cinema but never quite manage to find the time to do a review for it. Many of you have already seen the movie, of course but, like always on this site, I will still provide a bit of a synopsis before I begin:

  • In 1970, paranormal investigators and demonologists Lorraine (Vera Farmiga) and Ed (Patrick Wilson) Warren are summoned to the home of Carolyn (Lili Taylor) and Roger (Ron Livingston) Perron. The Perrons and their five daughters have recently moved into a secluded farmhouse, where a supernatural presence has made itself known. Though the manifestations are relatively benign at first, events soon escalate in horrifying fashion, especially after the Warrens discover the house's macabre history.

So, everybody is familiar with this franchise that James Wan created, with it's own spin-offs and sequels, some good, some not that good. In which category mentioned before does this fall into? Well, for me personally, which I am a huge fan of this franchise, with the good and the bad as well, this falls straight into the middle, which means it was fine.

It was fine because it wasn't as good as the first two and it wasn't as scary as the first two. Mainly, the second one, I believe, is the scariest of this franchise but that doesn't mean that this one does not have it's fair share of creepy moments because it does. Plus, it wins points for the atmosphere that the movie engulfs you in, in particular moments. It feels creepy, the tension and the suspense are there, in some amount but enough to keep you, at least, a bit terrified and curious on what happens next.

The chemistry and the acting and the charm of it's leads, Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson, is what keep this movie working and afloat and keep fans invested in the story, a story that does not lack that sense of mystery that these movies had before, which was a good thing.

Overall, unfortunately, this third entry in this horror franchise does bring down a bit and it does not have many surprising moments that can impress you but the feeling of crepiness and tension building are enough to give some chills down your spine. 6.5/10

OK guys, that was my review for this one. I forgot to mention, in my review for Shang - Chi that I was not able to see the new Candyman movie but I will try, maybe during this week, if I find the time, to see it and do a review for it. Also, I would like to do a review for the horror movie Malignant which was also made or produced, I think, by James Wan. But I will see how I'll find the time to work something to have all these reviews posted. Also, in the missing category, Black Widow is up next.

Until then guys, take care, stay nerdy and keep on reviewing!
