Hello guys and welcome back for another round of movie reviews with Movie Nerd, the place where you can be nerdy about movies!
So, although I said that it's going to take some time to review all those missed movies apparently I am on a very good streak right now and words just float out of my mouth and on to the page or, actually, on to the laptop :)).
Because this weekend there are no new movie releases or, actually, no new movie releases that interests me to go and see and do a review I will be more focused on the movies that I have missed to do reviews for. Also, the weekend from next week I will be at the East European Comic Con in Bucharest, which is the same weekend when the new Candyman movie comes out, which I will see when I will return, meaning that a review for a new release will be posted, I think, at the beginning of September, which I will apologize for that but is not much that I can do.
So, with that being said, for today's missed review is the battle that many of us where looking for, except for the one between Batman and Superman but we know how that turned up to be. The question on everybody's mind was is this going to be the Batman v Superman of the monster universe? Well, maybe just on my mind was this question :)). Surely, that question has been answered because the movie came out in March and most of you have already seen it but, on this site, no matter what, I will still provide a synopsis for the movies I review:
Legends collide in “Godzilla vs. Kong” as these mythic adversaries meet in a spectacular battle for the ages, with the fate of the world hanging in the balance. Kong and his protectors undertake a perilous journey to find his true home, and with them is Jia, a young orphaned girl with whom he has formed a unique and powerful bond. But they unexpectedly find themselves in the path of an enraged Godzilla, cutting a swath of destruction across the globe. The epic clash between the two titans—instigated by unseen forces—is only the beginning of the mystery that lies deep within the core of the Earth.
A bit longer synopsis that I expected but it's not the whole movie at least just the main plot and story, which, I might add is not that interesting and exciting. It's a story that feels very similar because I have already seen it in other movies over and over again so originality is another point that goes out the window with this movie.
Enough about story. What do we want when we are going to see a movie that has Godzilla and King Kong with vs in the middle? Giant monster fights and that's what you get with this movie because it replaces unnecessary family drama and uninteresting character backstory and development with incredible spectacle of special effects, plenty of action sequences on a big scale, very colorful visuals and, like I said, giant monster fights. That is all you need from this movie and, look, I am all for character development and story but in a movie like this, your mind is focused only on the spectacle that it is on the screen.
Sure, there are some inconsistences and leaps in logic with the story but, like I said, this is a movie where you turn your brain off and enjoy the entertainment.
Overall, a satisfying display of forces in this movie and I got what I want from it and it was worth the wait. It lacks originality in the story department but that didn't bothered me because I just enjoyed the movie, for the action and the amazing effects. 7.2/10
OK guys, that was my review for this one. A couple of missed ones are going to be posted and I have already explained the reason so the next one will be the 2021 Mortal Kombat movie. Until then, take care, stay movie nerdy and keep on reviewing!
