Hello guys and welcome back for another round of movie reviews with Movie Nerd, a place where you can be nerdy about movies and that's OK!

So, I did not know that this movie was coming out this weekend, alongside Gemini Man, which I hear is not that good of a movie and this one has a certified fresh score on Rotten Tomatoes so, naturally, I saw this one instead.

Before I dive in, a bit of a synopsis for those who haven't seen this movie already: READY OR NOT follows a young bride (Samara Weaving) as she joins her new husband's (Mark O'Brien) rich, eccentric family (Adam Brody, Henry Czerny, Andie MacDowell) in a time-honored tradition that turns into a lethal game with everyone fighting for their survival.

So, pretty twisted right? Twisted, smart, a great script, excellently written characters with some dark humor, good performances and a very entertaining premise, that has some bite to it.

It's not your typical horror movie, of course it has it's cliches and some cheap jump scares that look a bit out of place but it has a smart script and it knows how to utilize it's characters and premise to keep you interested, invested and entertained. It has humor, very well used and effective and, although some it is more silly than funny, it works. There are some very silly situations that erase any shred of seriousness but I was not bothered by it because I wanted to be entertained and I was.

The movie is R Rated so don't bring your kids to it, although the movie has kids in it that also indulge in the game, still I would keep the kids home if I were you. It has some very graphic violence, bloodshed and gore but it does not feel exaggerated or, perhaps a bit, in the last scene of the movie but I still felt that wasn't exaggerated as well.

Overall, I was pleasantly surprised by this movie and how it all come together in a very good way, giving the audience a bit of a suspenseful thrill ride. 8.2/10

OK guys, that is my review for this one. Next up, maybe Gemini Man, but I am not sure. What I am sure is about the reviews for El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie, Zombieland: Double Tap and Countdown. Until then, take care, stay movie nerdy and keep on reviewing!
