Hello guys and welcome back to another round of movie reviews with Movie Nerd, a place where you can be nerdy about movies and that's OK!

So, because today is June 1st, Children's day, I've decided to do some kid friendly movie reviews and what more better than the Lego movie series because those movies are perfect for children of all ages, even the ones that are still on the inside or for the ones who want to rediscover their childhood and remember the times when everything was much better and you had no worries. So, let's kick off things with the first one.

Everyone loves Legos, right? Everybody played with them at some point, maybe some still do and this movie encapsulates that feeling with beautiful animation but more on that later.

First, a synopsis for you: Emmet (Chris Pratt), an ordinary LEGO figurine who always follows the rules, is mistakenly identified as the Special -- an extraordinary being and the key to saving the world. He finds himself drafted into a fellowship of strangers who are on a mission to stop an evil tyrant's (Will Ferrell) plans to conquer the world. Unfortunately for Emmet, he is hopelessly -- and hilariously -- unprepared for such a task, but he'll give it his all nonetheless.

Yes, the plot and the story are nothing new, just the generic underdog type of story, when the main protagonist seems, at first, not up to the task but, in the end, finds the strength and rises to the occasion. It happens here as well but, between those 2 points, there are a lot of extra layers to this story, with a bit of depth, a good portion of emotions and some good quality humor as well.

As I mentioned before, the animation is awesome, mind blowing, with some very precise details that really transports you to this world. The voice cast is on point, very charming and very well picked.

Overall, a movie for all of the ages, like I said before and it's perfect for kids, who, let's face it, if they can, they would live in a world full of Lego pieces. Beautiful animation, funny gags, a bit of meta humor, here and there, terrific cast and a surprisingly thoughtful story. 8/10
