Hello guys and welcome back for another round of movie reviews with Movie Nerd, the place where you can be nerdy about movies!

So, like I said before, I am going to write some reviews for a few movies that I missed to review but, don't worry, I am still going to work on reviews for new movie releases as well. This combination is temporary until I finish to review every each movie that I missed in the past few months. This is going to be a part of a new temporary category called Movie Nerd: The Missed Ones.

With that said, I hope you will bare with me until I finish this and return to what I do normally but, unfortunately, with work and other personal things going on in my life at the moment, it's going to be a bit difficult but, with a little motivation and determination, I will manage, hopefully.

And now, with that said, I will start my review for the second Wonder Woman movie and, knowing that this movie was released on Christmas Day of 2020, a lot of people have already seen it, including me, on the day it was released plus some days and months after that and know about it and the story of it but, in the spirit of my site, I will still post a little synopsis:

  • Wonder Woman squares off against Maxwell Lord and the Cheetah, a villainess who possesses superhuman strength and agility.

So, you guys already made your own opinion about this movie for some time now and for that I am not going to ask the question if it's as good as the first or better but I will share my own opinion with you guys, just to be safe :)). I don't think that this sequel is as good as the first not to mention the fact that it is not better, not in the slightest but it's not really that bad either. It does it's charm and it's moments, not a lot of them but it has some.

The first one was a big breakthrough for DC and the entire DCEU plus it was the first female superhero movie. That movie was a joy to watch, until it's third act when it becomes as unoriginal and generic as other comic book movies. Still, the movie was great nonetheless. For the second one, they wrongly thought that they should make it bigger and more action packed. Which they did and it is that but there lies it's main fault, it did what every other sequel does and fails in doing so resulting in a movie that struggles to compete or, at least, keep up with the original.

They choose for the plot and story of this movie to take place in the 80's because reasons or because, I don't know, is the most popular period of time for film makers nowadays for some reason. It is a big leap from WWI that was the first movie to this period which causes a bit of a weirdness in the whole timeline. I enjoyed the 80's esthetics probably because I did not live in those times so it really fascinates me, the design and look of the movie. Visually, the movie looks good, it has some good camera angles and shots that put that design front and centre.

It has some good action sequences, some of the CGI work is not that great, you can see sometimes that something it's fake or CGI. Since I begin talking about the CGI, I cannot not talk about the Cheetah design and look. Is not Cats bad but it's not very far from that. The story is not that great also and, in some parts it does not make a lick of sense, like how they bring back Steve Trevor. That part seems devoid of logic. Did she wished that he would come back? Is he possessing that guy? Is he a ghost? I don't know and the movie sure as hell does not tell you.

Overall, a bit of a disappointing continuation and surely not an improvement from the first movie. It's like with the Suicide Squad movies but backwards. It's not a bad movie and it's definitely not the worst from DC, it's still got it's charm, mainly from it's main lead and cast plus it offers enough escapism and a vibrant enough feel that fans will surely enjoy and I am guessing some of you did. 6.5/10

OK guys, that was my first review for the movie that I missed. Next up, I am hoping to work on both Zack Snyder's Justice League and Free Guy but the main one will be Free Guy because it's a new release. Until then guys, take care, stay movie nerdy and keep on reviewing!
