Hello guys and welcome back for another round of movie reviews with Movie Nerd, a place where you can be nerdy about movies!
Today, I will continue with movies that I have missed to review, actually the title for this category sounds a bit better and it's a little shorter :)). So, with a bit of luck and a whole lot of patience, commitment and determination, I was able to put together a little review for this movie that many fans were waiting for, the movie not my review :)), after the disappointment and I am being very gentle with the words here, that was the 2017 Justice League. Actually I am going to be blunt. I already reviewed the 2017 version when it came out but, after seeing the 2021 version and the way it was supposed to be, feel and look, I can say that the 2017 version is a total clusterfuck, pardon my French.
I know that you guys and mainly everybody else have already seen this movie and already know very much about it but I will still give you my opinion on it and a little synopsis because that is how we do here at Movie Nerd:
Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman's selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists newfound ally Diana Prince to face an even greater threat. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to recruit a team to stand against this newly awakened enemy. Despite the formation of an unprecedented league of heroes -- Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and the Flash -- it may be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.
So, we all know that the failure of the 2017 version made fans to demand the version that Zack Snyder created and the version that we, finally, got this year, in March. In my opinion, it was worth the wait. This version seriously improves on story, character development, action sequences and, also, on the runtime because it doubles it, from 2 hours to 4 and, you know what, those 4 hours fly by because you are invested in the story and there is no single filler moment. Sure, the story was already known from the 2017 version, there is nothing different there and most of the moments in the movie you have already seen previously in the other movie but Zack Snyder's vision brings a bit more depth to the characters and the story makes more sense, it's more linear and feels much more developed, not as disjointed.
It's not as colorful as the previous version but that is a good thing because it feels a bit more serious, the stakes feel a bit more serious and not a joke. Speaking of jokes, this version still has some humor but it works better here than in the previous version.
We got a lot more of Cyborg, which was a good thing because he's story feels like the main one and it's the one that has more depth to it. All of the characters feel like they got an upgrade from the versions of the previous movie.
The special effects look a lot better, the movie visually looks great, without that color, which I am surprised it didn't burn my pupils out of my eyes. The frame rate that Snyder decided to film this movie and presented to the public like that, some liked it some didn't and I see why because it's not for everyone but I was not that bothered by it. Felt a bit weird but that's it.
Overall, this was a big improvement and it is the Justice League that fans were waiting for and wanted. It is the only Justice League movie, live action version, that is worth mentioning. The 2017 version has been erased from it's miserable existence. This is the only version. I know, it's the same product wrapped in a slightly different package but, for me, it was satisfying enough and I am guessing for many other fans. 8/10
OK guys, that was my review for this one. For next time, it's not going to be a missed movie but the new Ryan Reynolds movie, Free Guy. Hoping to see it tomorrow or on Saturday. Anyway, expect a review on that Sunday at the latest. After that, I hope I can find the time to work on the review for Godzilla vs. Kong. Until then guys, take care, stay movie nerdy and keep on reviewing!
